I've just subscribed to a new children's program curriculum called "Grow." I'm excited to start working through this interactive Christ-centered curriculum with all of you. Every week you can look for an email from me that will contain the lesson for the week. I will send out links to the children's level teaching video and the preschool level video each week, so please pay attention to the different levels and choose what's appropriate for your family (or do both like we do!). The coloring pages available at church for kids sitting with their families will be from this curriculum as well, so I would encourage you to watch the video before or after you attend church service! You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions I can help you with. Keep reading to check out the program for this week!
Children's Ministry Director:
At Valley Bible Fellowship we believe you are never too young to begin developing a relationship with our creator God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, and grow in the power of the Holy Spirit. Background checked church volunteers lead a Sunday School program during the sermon portion of our weekly service for children from birth through 6th grade. Children are cared for and encouraged to use their creativity, imagination, playfulness, and critical thinking in class. We engage Bible stories that stress the incredible truth that we can all be saved by the sacrifice of Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve God at any age, wherever we may be. It is an honor and a joy to encourage the youth of our congregation in their spiritual development; we hope you'll join us on the journey.
Grow is a curriculum and strategy that helps kids grow in their relationships with God, with each other, and with the adults who care for them. Every week, kids hear Biblical truth through creative and multi-sensory teaching techniques designed to engage every personality and learning style. Then they learn to connect that truth with their real lives, biggest struggles, and most pressing questions through practical application and honest discussion. Each week, kids aren’t just told what God says — they also learn to discover why it matters and what they should do about it. Over the course of a year, kids will also be challenged to regularly practice four key spiritual habits: spending time with God through personal spiritual disciplines, spending time with others through Christlike community, discovering and using their gifts to serve God and others, and sharing their stories of faith. Plus, they’ll be given practical tools and experiences to help them turn these habits into action!
About our Children's Ministry Director:
Elanor Straight graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English in 2006. She then worked as an English teacher and missionary in the Czech Republic for a year before marrying her husband, Andrew Straight. The couple has four children and their family has lived in Westcliffe for the last seven years. Elanor has a background in education both in public schools and at private Christian schools and also works at the town library. She loves getting to work with the families at Valley Bible and how amazing it is to watch the kids grow into a relationship with Christ as they grow into teenagers and adults. Feel free to reach out to Elanor at email@example.com if you have any questions!
